Maria Leone, Founder and Owner of Bodyline® Pilates

Maria Leone has been teaching Pilates clients for over three decades and educating teachers for more than twenty years as an educator for Balanced Body. In 2025, she served as the headline presenter at the Pilates Journal Expo in both Los Angeles and Sydney, further solidifying her role as a global leader in contemporary Pilates education and advanced teacher training.

Maria is the creator of The Bodyline Method®, a continuing education program that bridges classical Pilates principles with modern movement science and is now taught internationally. She has presented throughout Germany, Greece, Malaysia, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and across the United States, working with Pilates instructors at every stage of their professional development.

She is an All Star instructor on Pilates Anytime, one of the world’s most respected online Pilates platforms, and also serves as an expert witness in Pilates related injury cases, bringing deep anatomical knowledge, teaching precision, and professional accountability to the field.

Maria’s foundation is rooted in dance. She earned her BFA from New York University before moving to Los Angeles to perform professionally with artists including Debbie Allen and Paula Abdul. Her clientele includes Hollywood figures such as Jennifer Aniston, elite athletes, active older adults, and fellow Pilates professionals. Her movement education continues to evolve through long term study of martial arts, earning a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, as well as ongoing yoga practice.

Known for her sharp eye, intelligent progressions, and commitment to both safety and creativity, Maria Leone’s work honors the traditional foundations of Pilates while fearlessly engaging its evolution.
